Meet the team behind The Myeloma Minutes

What is The Myeloma Minutes?

We know that dealing with myeloma can feel overwhelming. That's why we created The Myeloma Minutes – a podcast that breaks down everything you need to know about multiple myeloma in bite-sized, easy-to-understand episodes.

Each episode is hosted by Dr. Jam and Dr. Sally, two myeloma specialists who get it. They've spent years helping patients navigate this journey, and they want to share that knowledge with you.

Whether you're just starting out, somewhere in the middle of treatment, or doing well in remission, you'll find episodes that speak to where you are right now. We cover everything from the basics of what myeloma actually is, to the nitty-gritty of different treatments, to real patient stories that might sound familiar.

Quick Note

Everything we share here is for educational purposes – it's not meant to replace advice from your own medical team. Always chat with your doctors about what's right for you.

Meet Your Hosts

Expert physicians dedicated to myeloma education

Dr. Jaimal Kothari

Dr. Jam

MBBS, MD, FRCPath

Consultant Haematologist

Dr Jam Kothari (@myeloma_medic) is a myeloma specialist, with over 10 years' experience as a consultant, with an NHS practice based in Oxford, UK. He graduated with a first-class honours degree in Medical Sciences at the University of Cambridge, before completing his medical training at the University of Oxford.

He undertook his haematology training at University College Hospital London (UCLH), which included an advanced fellowship on the comprehensive treatment of myeloma and associated conditions. He is myeloma lead doctor for Oxford University Hospitals and the surrounding areas, co-ordinating myeloma care for a population of 2.5 million people – with the primary responsibilities being developing new protocols, being a point of contact for complex case discussions and co-ordinating clinical trials.

He manages patients on complex cellular treatments, including CAR-T therapy. His approach is deeply focused on patient-centred care, ensuring that individuals have the time and information necessary to be fully engaged in the decision-making process regarding their treatment. He has felt that a podcast series would very much enable and empower people affected by myeloma to feel connected to their journey with this condition.
